Minutes of Meeting

The Criminal Justice Commission met on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill, for the purpose of conducting interviews for the appointment of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Britain, and any other business that may come before the Commission.

The following members were present: Justice Richard N. Palmer, Chairperson, Judge Juliett L. Crawford, Attorney Maura H. Horan, Attorney Moy N. Ogilvie, and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane. Also present: Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist Patricia Alston.

The meeting, which was open to the public, commenced at 9:23 a.m. in the conference room.  Attorney Horan made a motion, seconded by Attorney Ogilvie, to approve the minutes of the meeting of July 21, 2011. The motion passed unanimously.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., the Commission interviewed the following attorneys: Michelle Cruz, Kevin Doyle, John Fahey, Joseph Harry, Margaret Kelley, John Malone, Peter McShane, and Kevin Murphy. The Commission recessed at approximately 12:46 p.m. and resumed its public meeting at 1:23 p.m. to interview: Mary Rose Palmese, Brian Preleski, Cynthia Serafini, Charles Stango, David Strollo, and David Zagaja.

At approximately 4:35 p.m., Attorney Horan made a motion to go into executive session to discuss the appointment. The motion was seconded by Attorney Ogilvie and passed unanimously.

Following the executive session, the Commission resumed its public meeting at approximately 5:14 p.m. Attorney Horan moved for the appointment of Attorney Brian Preleski as State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Britain; Attorney Ogilvie seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

At approximately 5:17 p.m., the meeting was adjourned.
