Certification Requirements: Remedial Reading & Remedial Language Arts (102)
1)Hold or be eligible for a Connecticut certificate
2) Have completed at least 30 school months of successful classroom teaching experience
3) Has completed at least 21 credits, including a course in each of the following:

Developmental reading;
-
Reading in content areas;
-
Diagnosis and remediation of reading and language arts difficulties;
-
Clinical practices in reading and language arts, consisting of at least six credits;

Language arts; and
-
Tests and measurements
4) An approved three-credit course of study in special education including gifted and talented
5) A passing score on the Pearson Reading Specialist exam.
