The Healthcare Benchmark Initiative Data Analytics Workgroup (DAW) advances progress toward the cost growth benchmark through improved understanding of healthcare spending, utilization, and price growth in the commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid markets in Connecticut.

The Healthcare Benchmark Initiative Data Analytics Workgroup proposes recommendations to the Healthcare Benchmark Initiative leadership and the Office of Health Strategy on opportunities to reduce healthcare cost growth in the state.

The Data Analytics Workgroup advises on:

• Implementing data strategy including design and review of standard and ad hoc reports
• Comparing Connecticut spending to other states’ benchmarks
• Identifying contributors to high spending, spending variation and spending growth in healthcare
• Identifying opportunities for cost growth mitigation strategies to improve healthcare affordability
• Using analytic findings to support policy proposals to expand access to equitable, high-quality healthcare and improved population health
• Offering guidance and assistance in interpreting analytic findings
• Offering support and alternatives in methodological adjustments used within cost growth target and performance reporting
