Who do I contact if I'm upset about the care I received?
If you aren't happy with the quality of care you or a loved one received, contact the right team based on who your complaint is about:
- About a doctor, nurse, or other health professional: Contact the Department of Public Health Practitioner Investigations Unit
- About a hospital, clinic, office, or lab: Contact the Department of Public Health Facility Licensing & Investigation Section
- About a nursing home, residential care home, or assisted living community: Contact the Long Term Care Ombudsman
What types of complaints can I file?
You can get help or file a complaint with the CT Office of the Healthcare Advocate (OHA) when:
- Your health insurer won't pay for a treatment or service you think should be covered.
- You get a medical bill for something your insurance should have paid for.
- You don't understand what your health insurance covers or disagree with their decision.
- You have questions or concerns about your enrollment in a health plan.
