Malloy today released the following statement in response to the decision issued this afternoon by the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency granting Miriam Martinez-Lemus, a Stamford mother who came to the United States in 1992 fleeing political violence in her home country of Guatemala, a stay in her immigration case and allowing her to remain with her family.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a special election to fill a vacancy in the 15th Assembly District of the Connecticut House of Representatives, which consists of the entirety of Bloomfield and portions of Windsor, will be held on January 9, 2018.

• Gov. Malloy Announces Connecticut Has Deployed 13 State Troopers to Puerto Rico for Post-Hurricane Tour of Duty

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut’s Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) has deployed 13 state troopers as part of Connecticut’s ongoing efforts to assist in Puerto Rico’s post-hurricane recovery efforts. The troopers, 12 of whom are fluent in Spanish, will be patrolling and providing security and traffic assistance in conjunction with the local police in Puerto Rico. The crew departed Bradley Airport early Monday morning.

  On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join officials from the Town of Wilton and executives from Yankee Gas at a news conference to announce the start of a major construction project that will deliver a new natural gas pipeline to households and businesses where it was previously unavailable.

• Gov. Malloy Announces State Begins Providing Reimbursements to Northeastern Connecticut Homeowners for Testing of Crumbling Foundations

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state’s testing program for homeowners in northeastern Connecticut impacted or potentially impacted by the ongoing crumbling foundation problem has opened its application process and eligible homeowners can now begin applying to receive reimbursements for the testing of their homes. The state is making $5 million available to provide assistance related the costs of testing foundations for homeowners, which will better provide the state with data related to the scope of the situation while providing homeowners with another level of financial relief.

• Gov. Malloy: State Partnerships with Businesses are Helping Companies Expand, Grow Jobs, and Relocate to Connecticut

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that as a result of recent state efforts to assist businesses in expanding and relocating to Connecticut, 13 companies have committed to growing 1,594 new jobs and retaining 2,949 employees across the state utilizing economic development tools designed to increase competitiveness and strengthen support for businesses.

• Gov. Malloy Announces State of Connecticut and Tribal Nations File Federal Lawsuit to Compel the Approval of Gaming Agreements

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has joined the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nations in filing a lawsuit in federal court against the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) and Ryan Zinke, the Secretary of the Interior, over the agency’s failure to act on the gaming compact amendments the Governor recently entered into with the tribes.

Malloy today announced that CTtransit buses throughout the state will soon be equipped with GPS devices that will provide real-time bus location information to riders.  With a total of 42 million passenger trips taken per year, riders will be able to better plan travel with up-to-the-minute arrival and departure information, as well as a better experience, with the new devices.
