• Gov. Malloy: State to Save New Haven Open Tennis Tournament

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) will vote on purchasing the rights to the New Haven Open tennis tournament at a meeting scheduled for next Thursday, October 17. By purchasing the rights, CRDA would become the owner of the tournament, which will be held August 15-23, 2014, at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale in New Haven.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today toured Byrne Woodworking, a manufacturer of high-end custom cabinetry and millwork, one year after the company received a Small Business Express (EXP) Grant. The business, at 170 Herbert St., Bridgeport, was able to hire three full-time cabinetmakers, retain seven jobs, and break ground on a 1,800-square-foot expansion.

Malloy today released a detailed report compiled by the Office of Policy and Management (OPM) documenting efforts achieved by state employees during the past year that are making state government leaner and more cost-effective. • Tuesday: Gov. Malloy Signs Bill on Nursing Home Patients’ Rights

  On Tuesday at noon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a bill signing ceremony in East Hartford for legislation (Public Act 13-70) that requires nursing home administrators to ensure that all nursing home staff receive in-service training, which must include a discussion on patients’ rights to file complaints and voice grievances, and ways to prevent and alleviate patients’ fear of retaliation.
