Malloy today announced that due to the ongoing success of a consumer rebate program he launched last year to promote the sale of electric vehicles (EVs), an additional $2.7 million in new funding is being made available to continue this popular initiative. He made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the 2016 Connecticut International Auto Show in Hartford, which brings together dozens of manufacturers and car dealers to showcase their latest models being offered to consumers, including many EVs.

Malloy today announced that – in accordance with a proclamation from President Barack Obama directing flags to be lowered across the country in honor of former U.S. Senator, veteran, and astronaut John Glenn – U.S. and state flags in Connecticut should be flown at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on the day of his interment, which has not yet been determined.

Malloy and Office of Policy and Management Secretary Ben Barnes are applauding the State Employees Retirement Commission on their unanimous vote today to lower the assumed rate of return for the State Employee Retirement System (SERS) from 8 percent to 6.9 percent. The action was prompted by the agreement Governor Malloy and the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) announced last week that will allow the state to fully fund its pension obligations on a stable, predictable basis while continuing to support the state’s retirement system.
