  • 7/24/2012 Gov. Malloy's General Counsel on D-SNAP Expedited Arbitration Hearings

    There were 27 expedited arbitration hearings held on Friday, July 20. Assuming Mr. Rochlin received a copy of these decisions, and his reporting of them is accurate (which is not guaranteed since he claims there were 40), Andrew J.   • 7/24/2012 Gov. Malloy: Statewide Emergency Preparedness Exercise to Begin July 28

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a four-day statewide emergency preparedness drill designed to simulate a Category 3 hurricane will begin on July 28th and run through July 31st. Coordinated by the state's Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), the exercise is designed to improve communication between the state's utility companies and state and local governments in the event of an emergency or other natural disaster.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a new company has established its corporate headquarters and will launch a multi-platform cable golf network in Hartford, a project that is expected to create hundreds of jobs over time and breathe new life into the downtown area.

Malloy on Thursday signed an executive order formally establishing the Connecticut Council on Developmental Disabilities, a move that will allow the council to better carry out its mission of promoting self-determination, independence, productivity, integration and inclusion in all facets of community life for people with developmental disabilities.

Malloy joined Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Daniel Esty, Department of Agriculture Commissioner Steven Reviczky, and environmental advocates at the Session Woods Wildlife Management Area in Burlington for a ceremonial bill signing for Public Act 12-152 An Act Concerning the State's Open Space Plan. This legislation strengthens Connecticut's efforts to preserve important land as open space.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy issued the following statement regarding today's release of the Connecticut Department of Labor's monthly "Labor Situation" report for June 2012, which indicates that the state's unemployment rate was 8.1 percent, compared to the national rate of 8.2 percent, and 5,000 private sector jobs were created during the month.

    On Thursday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a bill signing ceremony to commemorate the passage of Public Act 12-152, a new law that strengthens Connecticut’s efforts to preserve land as open space and help the state meet its goal of protecting 673,210 acres, or 21 percent, of state land as open space by 2023.
