  Governor Dannel P. Malloy is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, July 28, 2018, in honor of U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. James Tyler Grotjan of Waterford, who died from injuries sustained while stationed overseas at Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates. A funeral service in his remembrance is being held on Saturday in New London.

Malloy today announced that because The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) has exceeded its initial employment goals years ahead of schedule, the state has forgiven $165.9 million in loans used to construct their state-of-the art 185,000 square foot building on the campus of UConn Health.

• 7/20/2018 Gov. Malloy Announces Relaunch of Lead Awareness Campaign to Educate Parents on the Dangers and Prevention of Childhood Lead Poisoning

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) is relaunching its campaign to educate parents on the dangers of childhood lead poisoning and the steps that can be taken to prevent exposure to lead. The CDC-funded campaign consisting of billboards, advertisements on Pandora and Facebook, public service announcements, and work with community organizations will be targeted toward black and Latino families living in the areas of the state with the highest concentrations of children with elevated blood lead levels: Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, New Britain, Waterbury and Meriden.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement on the monthly Labor Situation Report, which shows that 6,100 jobs were created in June and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent. In addition, May’s numbers were revised up by 2,000 to a total of 6,100 new jobs.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, plans to add 110 jobs over the next five years in a new Stamford office. The company recently signed a long-term lease and plans to renovate space in the former UBS building at 677 Washington Boulevard, which it expects to occupy next spring.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in honor of U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. John H. Canty, a World War II airman from Winsted who was killed in action in 1944 at the age of 22 and whose remains were recently discovered and returned to his family. A funeral service and burial with full military honors is being held Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery, near Washington, D.C.
