• 12/14/2017 Gov. Malloy Announces First Meeting of the Newly Formed Commission on Fiscal Stability and Economic Growth

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the newly formed Commission on Fiscal Stability and Economic Growth will hold its first meeting on Friday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 1D of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. The 14-member group was created as part of the bipartisan state budget that Governor Malloy signed into law on October 31 and will be responsible for developing and recommending policies to achieve state government fiscal stability and promote economic growth and competitiveness within the state.

• 12/13/2017 Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff Thursday for the Anniversary of the Tragedy in Sandy Hook

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and State of Connecticut flags to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, December 14, 2017, in remembrance of the 20 children and 6 adults who were killed five years ago in the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags – including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise – should also be lowered during this same duration of time.

• 12/8/2017 Gov. Malloy: Holiday Open House at the Governor’s Residence Canceled Saturday Due to Parking Ban on Local Roads

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that because the City of Hartford and the Town of West Hartford have implemented parking bans on all municipal streets beginning on the morning of Saturday, December 9, and lasting throughout the day, the previously scheduled Holiday Open House at the Governor’s Residence that was to be held from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. that day has been canceled due to lack of available parking.

• 12/7/2017 Gov. Malloy Issues New Warnings on Status of State’s Transportation Fund

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reiterating and increasing his warnings on the status of the state’s Special Transportation Fund (STF) following the release of a new report showing that the solvency of the fund is in growing jeopardy. The report lays out numerous state transportation projects in towns and cities across Connecticut that would be at risk of cancellation or deferral if the state does not take corrective action to support the STF.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy along with Department of Revenue Services (DRS) Commissioner Kevin Sullivan today announced that DRS is launching the CT Fresh Start program – a voluntary compliance initiative available to both individuals and businesses that provides incentives to taxpayers who report and pay their outstanding, unreported tax liabilities to the state. This program, which was created by the bipartisan state budget Governor Malloy signed into law on October 31, is aiming to bring in $60 million to the state by the end of FY18 and an additional $25 million by November 30, totaling $85 million.

The national observation honors the lives lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Governor Nancy Wyman are urging the U.S. House of Representatives to reject the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, which is currently pending before Congress and would allow more dangerous criminals and untrained individuals to carry loaded, hidden guns in public places by forcing states with strong concealed carry laws to honor permits from states with weak or non-existent standards.
