The patient Medicaid ID number/Health Insurance helps ensure patient records are complete and accurate in CT WiZ, and helps the Connecticut Department of Health CT WiZ facilitate more advanced immunization coverage analytics.
How Providers Direct Data Enter in CT WiZ:
- In the Demographics screen under the "Sources of Health Insurance" section in CT Wiz.
- Select the health insurance or "Medicaid" from the drop-down list (can identify up to three).
- Enter the patient's "Insurance ID or Number".
- Ener "Date Last Verified" when available.
- Check the "Primary" box for the patient's primary insurance.
- Click the "Update" blue button on the top to save.
How Providers report via Electronic Health Records (EHR/HL7) in CT WiZ:
- Providers should discuss this with your EHR vendor/technical contact and share the updated local EHR/HL7 technical guide. Minor changes will be required to your existing EHR interface if you were onboarded prior to June 2023.
- Patient Medicaid ID Number (MA) will be collected through PID-3. Most interfaces currently populate with the patient's Medical Record Number (MR). PID-3 can accept multiple values as patient identifiers. Providers will continue to send Medical Record Number (MR) as a required element for all patients, plus Patient Medicaid Number (MA) for those individuals with an active Medicaid Number recorded in the provider's EHR.
