Is there a timeline to be in compliance with the State law for electronic reporting of vaccinations administered to CT WiZ?

    • Please ensure your practice completes the process for electronic reporting no later than December 31, 2022 for large practices (defined as administering 1,000 doses of vaccine per year or more), and no later than March 1, 2023 for smaller practices (defined as administering fewer than 1,000 doses of vaccine per year).
    • The timelines listed above are deadlines and are intended to give you enough time to complete the onboarding process by the date stated. The deadlines are based on average time needed for onboarding and training.
  • The Connecticut Department of Public Health (CT DPH) is here to support vaccinating providers through the step-by-step electronic reporting process to the Immunization Information System (CT WiZ) including any trainings, onboarding, and timeline questions. Practitioner licensing may assist with provider non-compliance with State law, as needed. However, providers are encouraged to contact the State Immunization Program to discuss any concerns with timelines. CT WiZ has already trained and onboarded nearly 2,000 clinics. Check out our list of electronic health record (EHR) vendors already onboarded, which can make the reporting process faster for those listed. Even if your vendor is not listed or if you enter in the user interface, providers have reported the process is faster than they expected.
  • As providers become compliant with the law and report all vaccinations administered (both publicly supplied and privately purchased), CT WiZ quickly moves towards meeting the national standards of Immunization Information Systems and becoming a lifespan system.
  • If you are attesting to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) for Promoting Interoperability for Medicare, by reporting electronically to CT WiZ from your EHR, you can demonstrate compliance with “active engagement with a public health agency to submit immunization data and receive immunization forecasts and histories from an immunization information system.”
