Governor Lamont Signs Executive Order Providing Residential Rent Protections During COVID-19 Emergency, Extending All Closure and Safety Measures Through May 20
Governor Ned Lamont today announced he has signed an executive order that enacts a series of protections for residential renters struggling to pay their housing costs during the COVID-19 emergency, ensuring that they will not be evicted during this nationwide crisis and receive grace periods over the next several months. The order also extends all previously enacted closures, distancing, and safety measures – including for schools, restaurants, bars, retail stores, gyms, and other establishments – through at least May 20, 2020. In addition, it permits food trucks to operate at certain highway rest areas, and also modifies educator certification testing.

Governor Lamont Directs Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of Those Who Have Lost Their Lives or Have Been Affected by COVID-19
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is directing U.S. and State of Connecticut flags to be lowered to half-staff statewide effective immediately in recognition and mourning of all those who have lost their lives and been affected by COVID-19.

Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the State of Connecticut will illuminate the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven – more commonly known among residents as the Q Bridge – in red lights beginning tonight to honor the thousands of Connecticut health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Lamont Urges Volunteers From the General Public to Participate in Connecticut’s COVID-19 Response Efforts
Governor Ned Lamont and a large number of state officials and nonprofit providers are urging Connecticut residents to consider taking on a volunteer role in their communities to help respond to the COVID-19 crisis. While the state already began a campaign seeking out volunteers who have health care experience, today the state is launching a campaign seeking volunteers from the general public who are needed for other services at many different types of providers, such as food banks, deliveries to the elderly, shelters, and more.
