Governor Lamont Working With Health Insurers to Assure Preparedness for Coronavirus Outbreak Including Coverage for Testing Costs
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that in order to prepare for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), his administration is working with health insurance carriers in Connecticut to cover the costs for COVID-19 testing and to assure, in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-616a of the Connecticut General Statutes, access to maintenance prescription drug medications (excluding controlled substances).

Governor Lamont Announces First Positive Case of Novel Coronavirus Involving a Connecticut Resident
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) State Laboratory has confirmed the first presumptive positive case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) involving a Connecticut resident. The patient, a resident of Wilton who is 40 to 50 years of age, is being treated at Danbury Hospital. The person most likely became infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 during a recent trip to California and sought medical care shortly after returning to Connecticut.

Governor Lamont Requests CDC Provide Connecticut Additional COVID-19 Test Kits to Comply With New Federal Guidance
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is requesting the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provide the State of Connecticut with additional coronavirus (COVID-19) testing kits above the supply provided to the state late last week in order to comply with new federal guidance for clinicians on which patients should be tested.

ICYMI: U.S. Surgeon General Tells Connecticut Residents Vaccines Are Safe and Warns That States With Non-Medical Exemptions Are at Higher Risk of Illness
During a visit to Connecticut on Monday, U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Jerome M. Adams – the nation’s top doctor and an appointee of a Republican presidential administration – told Connecticut residents that vaccines are safe and strongly advocated for their use, while warning that states that have laws providing for non-medical exemptions for vaccinations are at “higher risks” of preventable diseases.

Governor Lamont Announces State Receives $17.4 Million Federal Grant to Build a New Train Station in Windsor Locks
Governor Ned Lamont announced today that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has received a $17.4 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration to construct a new Hartford Line railroad station in Windsor Locks.
