Overview

The Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) is pleased to announce the launch of the Direct Cash Transfer (DCT) Pilot Initiative, an effort designed to support and evaluate innovative programs that provide direct cash assistance to individuals and families.

Under Public Act 25-168, the Department of Social Services (DSS) will not count certain income or rental assistance from approved pilot programs when deciding eligibility for benefits.

Section 342: Income from a DCT pilot program will be disregarded for programs like SNAP, Temporary Family Assistance (TFA), and Medicaid.
Section 343: Direct rental assistance from a pilot program will also be disregarded for SNAP, Medicaid, and all cash assistance programs.

This helps participants join these pilot programs without losing their current benefits.

Why This Matters:
These provisions protect a recipient's benefits while they take part in new pilot programs.
