OPEN CALL: DEVELOPERS, OWNERS, CONSULTANTS, AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS ENCOURAGED TO PRESENT PROPOSALS TO BUILD MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING UNITS IN CONNECTICUT

(HARTFORD, CT) The Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) today announced that the bi-annual Development Engagement Process is now open for developers seeking state financial assistance or Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) for projects throughout Connecticut. The Spring 2024 Development Engagement Process (DEP) is open for approximately four weeks. Developers are encouraged to submit projects for consideration only if they believe they can prepare and deliver a complete and compliant application within 120 days of an Invitation to Apply.

THREE HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS IN CONNECTICUT RECEIVE STATE FINANCING: 299 UNITS IN VERNON AND BRIDGEPORT
 
The Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) are announcing today that they have signed financing agreements for three developments that will contribute to the creation of 139 housing units, including 116 affordable units for low- and moderate-income renters. DOH is providing a total of $13,800,000 in loans for developments in Bridgeport and Vernon. CHFA is providing an additional $7.8 million in financing as well as low-income housing tax credits (LIHTCs) and state Housing Tax Credits that will generate more than $18.5 million in private investment. The affordable units will be earmarked for residents making between 25% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Additionally, CHFA signed a financing agreement for 160 units to be funded by the Build For CT program, a new collaboration between DOH and CHFA to support the creation of apartments designed to be affordable for middle-income renters.

APRIL 15 DEADLINE: CT DEPT. OF HOUSING ENCOURAGES ELIGIBLE FAIRFIELD COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES TO APPLY FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

The CT Department of Housing (DOH) is announcing a new capacity building program for Fairfield County to provide direct technical assistance with the implementation of their local affordable housing plans.

FIVE HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS ACROSS CONNECTICUT RECEIVE STATE FINANCING: 478 UNITS IN HAMDEN, TORRINGTON, NEW HAVEN, ROCKY HILL, AND HARTFORD

The Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) are announcing today that they have signed financing agreements for five developments that will create a total of 478 housing units, including 439 affordable units for low- and moderate-income renters. DOH is providing a total of $16,697,675 in loans for developments in Hamden, Hartford, New Haven, Rocky Hill and Torrington. CHFA is providing an additional $35.1 million in financing as well as low-income housing tax credits (LIHTCs) that will generate more than $57.7 million in private investment. The affordable units will be earmarked for residents making between 25% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). In addition, CHFA signed a financing agreement for the first 44 units to be funded by the Build For CT program, a new collaboration between DOH and CHFA to support the creation of apartments designed to be affordable for middle-income renters.

Governor Lamont Announces $12.1 Million in Small Cities Grants Awarded to Eight Municipalities To Modernize and Rehabilitate Housing and Community Infrastructure

Governor Ned Lamont and Connecticut Housing Commissioner Seila-Mosquera Bruno today announced that the Connecticut Department of Housing is awarding $12.1 million in grants to eight municipalities for upgrades that will modernize and rehabilitate housing for low and moderate-income individuals, as well as community infrastructure.

Governor Lamont Announces Formation of the Connecticut Interagency Council on Homelessness

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is establishing a panel of agency heads within his administration that will be known as the Connecticut Interagency Council on Homelessness and will be responsible for collaborating on a multi-agency approach that strengthen the state’s homelessness prevention and response efforts.

CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR HOMELESS SERVICES

The Connecticut Department of Housing is announcing the release of $45.8 million in funding to various programs that assist those in need of emergency shelter and services. This is in addition to the previously announced $5 million for cold weather shelters. Specific locations for cold weather shelters are determined by municipalities and nonprofit providers, with DOH providing funding for operations.

HUD AWARDS DOH $4.5 MILLION FOR MOBILITY SERVICES

The Connecticut Department of Housing was recently awarded $4.5 million by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for mobility services for Section 8 recipients in the New Haven and Bridgeport areas.

DOH AND CHFA TO HOST CONFERENCE ON HOUSING IN CONNECTICUT

(HARTFORD) – The Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH), with support from the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA), will be hosting a one-day conference on Reimaging Housing in Connecticut on Thursday, November 2 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.
