APRIL 15 DEADLINE: CT DEPT. OF HOUSING ENCOURAGES ELIGIBLE FAIRFIELD COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES TO APPLY FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

The CT Department of Housing (DOH) is announcing a new capacity building program for Fairfield County to provide direct technical assistance with the implementation of their local affordable housing plans.

DOH has partnered with the Fairfield County Center for Housing Opportunity (FCCHO) to launch this program and invites municipalities with a population under 90,000 to apply to receive technical support to actions in their development plans. Assistance can include updating zoning, streamlining the development application process, pre-development assistance, design assistance, data collection, financial tools, connecting with developers, and more.

Five communities in Fairfield County will be selected to participate in this program, which includes both individualized direct technical assistance and peer learning opportunities. The deadline for applications is April 15, 2024. Eligible municipalities are encouraged to apply and can complete this short application form to be considered.

“The intent behind this technical assistance program is to provide access to experience and resources that can help our smaller cities and towns meet their goal of developing high quality affordable housing,” said Commissioner of Housing, Seila Mosquera-Bruno. “I know these issues can be challenging at the local level, and I recognize that sometimes all it takes is a little bit of help to get things started.  I believe this initiative can kick start that activity. I encourage every municipality in Fairfield County with a population under 90,000 to apply.”
