DOH AND CHFA TO HOST CONFERENCE ON HOUSING IN CONNECTICUT
(HARTFORD) – The Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH), with support from the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA), will be hosting a one-day conference on Reimaging Housing in Connecticut on Thursday, November 2 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.
The conference will feature a fireside chat on the state of housing in Connecticut with Governor Ned Lamont and DOH Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno.
The conference, which is invite only, will include breakout sessions on a variety of topics, including:
• HeadStart on Housing: Exploring how state partnerships can provide housing stability to young children and families
• Connecticut’s Regional Hubs: A new approach to provide in-person services to those experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity
• Time To Own: Lowering barriers to homeownership
• Build for Connecticut: Building housing stability for middle-income households
• Eviction Prevention Fund: Collaborating with tenants, landlords, and the court system to reduce evictions across Connecticut
• Sustainable Living for Tenants and Homeowners: Exploring collaborative solutions for a cleaner and greener Connecticut
“Housing remains a top priority for our administration because it is a key component needed to grow good-paying jobs, ensure businesses have the workforce necessary to fill in-demand positions, incentivize young people to stay in Connecticut, and support our overall economy,” Governor Lamont said.
“We look forward to bringing together practitioners from across the state to talk about housing strategies and how we can all work together to improve the state of housing in Connecticut,” said DOH Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno. “This is a great opportunity for us to explore new ideas and how we can improve our current programs.”
“We’re excited to support this year’s inaugural Reimagining Housing summit,” said Nandini Natarajan, CEO and Executive Director of CHFA. “Whether it’s lowering barriers to homeownership through the forgivable down payment assistance program, Time To Own, or creating housing solutions for middle-income renters through Build For CT, CHFA and DOH are collaborating to bring innovative solutions to life. This event will shine a spotlight on this successful partnership.”
Media are invited to attend the fireside chat portion of the conference, which will take place at noon.
