Branding and Marketing Consultations

The CT Department of Agriculture received a 2023 Organic Market Development Grant (OMDG) from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service to increase market access, consumer awareness, and consumer purchasing of CT Grown certified organic products.

A component of our project is to offer one-on-one technical assistance to certified and transitioning organic farm businesses to support marketing, branding, and increasing consumer awareness of CT Grown USDA certified organic products.

This technical assistance is made possible through partnership with UConn Extension to create a new position, the Organic Outreach Specialist. This position will support transitioning and certified organic farms in growing their presence in the organic market through one-on-one, in-person (or virtual) marketing assistance and alignment with the forthcoming CT Grown Organic campaign.

 

Meet the Organic Outreach Specialist, Dave Tschiegg

A farmer and experienced designer, Dave brings over 15 years of branding and marketing experience, with past clients including the Metropolitan Opera, MIT, and certified organic producers whose products are sold in Whole Foods, Amazon’s online marketplace, and national grocery chains. He co-owns CT Garlic Company, which grows culinary and seed garlic using organic practices.

Having grown up in Connecticut, Dave is deeply passionate about supporting the state’s organic producers. He looks forward to meeting farmers where they are to help grow their businesses through creative, strategic marketing.
