Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at an 'extreme' level. More information about the current fire danger, burn ban and recommended safety measures can be found here

CHEAPR Board Needs You! CHEAPR is looking for candidates to apply for and fill vacancies on the CHEAPR Board! See below for more information.
The Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR) program and CHEAPR Board were established by section 22a-202 of the Connecticut General Statutes (C.G.S.). The CHEAPR Board is responsible for setting rebate levels and determining income eligibility requirements for Connecticut residents who purchase or lease new or used hydrogen vehicles or electric vehicles rebates, as well as conducting an annual evaluation of the CHEAPR program.

CHEAPR Board Members

The CHEAPR Board consists of the DEEP Commissioner as the chairperson, the Commissioner of Consumer Protection, the president of the Connecticut Green Bank or their respective designees, and six appointed members meeting the ascribed qualifications in G.G.S. section 22a-202(a).

DEEP is using a broad-based recruitment effort to attract diverse candidates to apply for open seats on the CHEAPR Board. The CHEAPR Board was established by section 22a-202 of the Connecticut General Statutes (C.G.S.) and appointed members must meet the ascribed qualifications in G.G.S. section 22a-202(a) as summarized in the CHEAPR Board Member Appointment Requirements.

As of 2024, appointments to the CHEAPR Board are being handled through an open application process. To submit an application for consideration, interested candidates should visit the DEEP Board & Council Members application page.

 

CHEAPR Board Meetings

CHEAPR Board meetings are now scheduled to occur quarterly via Zoom. All Board meetings are scheduled from 3:00-5:00 PM and Zoom meeting information may be accessed on DEEP's Calendar of Events and on the Secretary of State's Public Meeting Calendar.
