The National Do Not Call Registry is a list of phone numbers that do not want to receive unsolicited sales calls. The registry is handled by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Connecticut law acknowledges the National Do Not Call Registry as its official list of numbers off-limits to telemarketers. If your number is on that list, telemarketers are not allowed to call you. Calling someone on the Do Not Call list (or a person who has asked not to be called again) is illegal.

Telemarketers must check and honor that list, which is updated regularly, or face penalties for violating it.
