To prevent unwanted telephone calls, sign up for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Do Not Call Registry.
Option 1: Register online by visiting the National Do Not Call Registry and sign up your house or mobile phone number.
Option 2: Register over-the-phone by calling the toll-free number (1-888-382-1222) from the number you want to register.
What to know:
- Registration is free and does not expire
- Once you've been registered for 31 days, you will be protected from legitimate telemarketers.
- Your number will be registered until your phone service is disconnected or until you request the number to be removed from the registry.
- Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations prohibit the telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cellphone numbers without prior consent.
