In attendance: Jim Morgan, Office of Victim Services (OVS)

The meeting was called to order at 3:05 p.m.

A discussion was held regarding the reimbursement rates for providers of services pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes section 19a-112a. Linda Cimino reported that the rates paid must be standardized and examined to prevent a large deficit in the allocated budget. It was agreed that the Commission should be vocal in expressing its support for increasing the budget in upcoming years to finance examinations done pursuant to CGS 19a-112a.

The following motion was made by Bob Allensworth and seconded by Laura Cordes to adopt a new reimbursement schedule for providers:

  • A maximum of $900.00 for emergency department visits for patients 18 and older;
  • A maximum of $900.00 for emergency department visits for patients 17 or younger;
  • A maximum of $900.00 for victims 17 and younger, divided as follows:
    • Forensic interview: $250.00
    • Forensic medical examination: $400.00
    • Colposcopy: $175.00
    • Lab work: $75.00
  • There will be no reimbursement for any emergency department visit, regardless of the age of the patient, if the CT 100 kit is not opened.
  • All reimbursement rates will be again reviewed by the Commission in approximately six months (presumably at the June 2013 Commission meeting).
  • These new rates will become effective December 1, 2012.

The following members voted in favor: Platt, Daniels, Allensworth, Noehren, Cimino, LaMonica and Cordes.

The following member abstained: Leventhal

The motion passed and the meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
