Possession of 1.5 oz of cannabis is now legal, and sales have started at licensed retailers. Medical marijuana patients may grow up to 3 mature and 3 immature plants at home starting October 1, 2021, with a cap of 12 total plants per household. All adults will be able to grow under the same rules starting July 1, 2023. Policies and procedures pertaining to home grow can be found in Section 21a-421j-41 located at the end of the Department's policies and procedures

The law was amended by Public Act 22-103, An Act Concerning Cannabis, in May 2022 and again by Public Act 23-79, An Act Concerning Cannabis Regulation, in June 2023.
