  • Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman Invite Residents to Attend State’s Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are inviting members of the public to attend the State of Connecticut's 14th annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, honoring and celebrating the lives of those killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.  The ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.

  • Gov. Malloy & Conn. Delegation: Connecticut Awarded Grant to Advance Economic Development Plans Across the Hartford Rail Line Corridor

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation today announced that the State of Connecticut has been awarded $700,000 grant from the Federal Transit Administration to conduct a study of transit-oriented development (TOD) opportunities in the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield rail corridor, also known as the Hartford Line.  The federal funding will be matched by $200,000 in state funds.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation today announced that the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) has been awarded over $2.6 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) - $2.1 million of which will be used to replace its outdated unemployment insurance computer system, while the remainder will be used to continue a successful fraud prevention partnership program.

Malloy today announced that, in the third installment of several rounds of grants this year, thirteen towns throughout Connecticut have been approved to receive funding under the state's Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP), which assists with infrastructure improvement projects.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today said that with Hurricane Joaquin currently forecast to impact the east coast over the next several days, he is asking Connecticut residents to closely monitor the storm's path and be prepared for severe weather conditions.  The Governor continues to work with state emergency management officials to monitor the storm and make preparations for necessary state response.

  • Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Receives Millions in ‘Second Chance Act’ Grants for Crime Reduction Initiatives

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has been awarded over $2.3 million in grants from the United States Department of Justice under the federal Second Chance Act that will help bolster one of the state's criminal justice efforts.  The grants, awarded to both the Department of Corrections, the City of New Haven, and a variety of non-profit organizations, will support a wide range of efforts to reduce recidivism and help turn offenders into productive members of society.

  • Gov. Malloy: State Secures Entry into New Federal Program for Manufacturers to Advance New Flexible Hybrid Electronics

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), the University of Connecticut (UConn), and the United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) will take part in a new Flexible Hybrid Electronics Manufacturing Innovation Institute (FHE MII), a virtual institute consisting of more than 160 companies, universities, and non-profits.  As part of the institute, manufacturers in the state can gain support to build up their capabilities in new flexible, hybrid electronic technologies.

  • Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation to Help Ease College Debt, Implement a Student Loan Bill of Rights

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined groups of advocates and state officials at a bill signing ceremony to commemorate two new pieces of legislation that aim to tackle rising student loan debt and college affordability. The first - Public Act 15-200 - was introduced by Governor Malloy, allowing students to refinance their loans at substantially lower rates and delivering lower monthly payments. The second - Public Act 15-162 - gives the Connecticut Department of Banking more regulatory oversight over student loans to help ensure fairness in the process.

  • Gov. Malloy Calls for Bipartisan Meetings on State Budget

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is calling for bipartisan meetings on the state budget, with the aim of addressing the short-term budget shortfall while also improving Connecticut's long-term budget outlook and economic competitiveness.  With Wall Street on a significant, unpredicted downturn, further tough decisions need to be made.  As such, the Governor is inviting leaders of both parties into bipartisan talks that - if successful - could lead to a special session on the budget later this year.

Malloy today announced that a two-day statewide emergency preparedness drill designed to enhance readiness and disaster planning at all levels of government, with an emphasis on school emergency preparedness and response, will take place on Saturday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 21, 2015.

  • Gov. Malloy Announces Retirement of Labor Commissioner Sharon M. Palmer

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut Department of Labor Commissioner Sharon M. Palmer has opted to retire from the agency at the end of this year.  Commissioner Palmer began her position as the head of the department in August 2012 and was reappointed earlier this year when the Governor began his second term in office.
