CHEAPR is EVolving!
The CHEAPR pilot program is currently transitioning to the new CHEAPR program established under Public Act 19-117. The new program will offer rebates for both new and used electric vehicles! The CHEAPR Board is reassessing current program incentive levels for new EVs and evaluating the implementation of the used EV incentive component. Take a moment to review the proposed changes in the CHEAPR Proposal for Public Comment and submit your comments to DEEP.MobileSources@ct.gov by 5 pm on August 12, 2020.
The Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR) offers incentives of up to $5,000 for Connecticut residents who purchase or lease a new eligible battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric or fuel cell electric vehicle. There are currently over 30 eligible vehicles available and the list continues to grow as manufacturers release new models.
By participating in this incentive program you are not only going to receive an incentive on an electric vehicle, you are also helping Connecticut meet its clean air and energy goals!
Purchasing a CHEAPR electric vehicle is as easy as...1, 2, 3
Purchase or lease an eligible vehicle from a Connecticut franchised new automobile dealer.
For information on purchasing an eligible Tesla, please visit our FAQ.
Your dealer will complete and submit your CHEAPR application at the time of purchase or lease of the eligible vehicle and you will need to complete a short survey.
The incentive amount may be credited to your final purchase or lease price of the eligible vehicle to lower your monthly payments or you can decide to receive the incentive directly by Electronic Funds Transfer.
