• Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles

  The jurisdiction of the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles includes, but is not limited to, the licensing of motor vehicle operators, the registration of motor vehicles, including emissions testing, motor vehicle dealers and repairers, trucks and school buses. • Historic Preservation and Museum Commission Division of the Connecticut Commission on Arts, Tourism, Culture, History and Film

  The Historic Preservation and Museum Division protects and preserves Connecticut’s historical resources such as residential and commercial buildings, schools and factories, town greens and parks, churches and temples. The Historic Preservation and Museum Commission works closely with the Attorney General’s Transportation Section to prevent the unreasonable destruction of historic properties and landmarks. • Transportation, Housing & Public Works

  The Infrastructure and Economic Development Section of the Office of the Attorney General provides representation for the following state agencies: Department of Transportation ("DOT"); Department of Public Works ("DPW"); Department of Administrative Services ("DAS"); Department of Motor Vehicles ("DMV"); Department of Information Technology ("DOIT"); Department of Economic and Community Development, Housing Matters ("DECD"); and the Connecticut Historical Commission. In addition, the Transportation Section provides representation for various occupational licensing boards within the Department of Consumer Protection ("DCP"). The representation of the foregoing state agencies/boards includes, but is not limited to, counseling and advice on legal issues, the prosecution or defense of lawsuits or claims in both federal and Connecticut courts, and before various administrative entities, including the defense of claims filed with the Office of the Claims Commissioner pursuant to Chapter 53 of the Connecticut General Statutes.

  If you move within the State of Connecticut, the moving company is regulated by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. If you move between a point within Connecticut and a point outside Connecticut, the moving company is regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In particular, you should review the booklet entitled “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move.” This booklet should answer many of your questions and help you to avoid potential conflicts with your mover.
