• Attorney General Jepsen: Deadline to File DRAM Settlement Claim is August 1

  Attorney General George Jepsen is encouraging consumers to file claims to recover money from the $310 million Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) settlement before the quickly approaching August 1, 2014 deadline. Consumers can file claims to recover money due to the preliminary approval of multistate antitrust settlements with all the major manufacturers of DRAM for conspiring to fix their prices.

• Secretary of the State and Attorney General Collect More than $1 Million from Companies Doing Business Illegally in Connecticut

  Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill and Attorney General George Jepsen announced that enforcement efforts against out-of-state companies operating in Connecticut without legal authority have yielded $1.1 million in Fiscal Year 2016. The penalties were paid out by more than 240 companies, the largest fine being $39,630.

• Mortgage Review Assistance Available Jan. 19-21 For Bank Of America Customers

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Banking Commissioner Howard F. Pitkin announced today that Bank of America is hosting free mortgage assistance reviews in Hartford and Bridgeport for customers who are having trouble paying their mortgage loans.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that as of July 1st several changes to laws concerning Connecticut’s electricity market will have gone into effect, creating greater transparency and increasing protections for residential consumers by requiring electricity suppliers to provide very clear and specific information about how much they are being charged for electricity.

• State Enters Joint Federal-State Settlement with Newtown Psychiatrist Resolving False Claims Allegations

  A Newtown psychiatrist has agreed to a $422,641.70 joint federal-state settlement and will enter into a compliance program to resolve allegations that he submitted false claims for payments to Connecticut's Medicaid program and to Medicare, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

• Merrill & Jepsen Collect $1.3 Million in Penalties from Companies Transacting Business in Connecticut without Legal Authority

  Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill and Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that during Fiscal Year 2012, a joint effort by their offices resulted in the collection of more than $1.3 million in penalties from out-of-state companies operating in Connecticut without legal authority to transact business.

  This week – March 2 through March 8 – marks National Consumer Protection Week: a nationwide campaign to encourage individuals to take full advantage of their consumer rights and to be better-informed. • State Reaches Agreement Taking Concrete Products from Two Eastern Conn. Companies off Residential Foundation Market

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris announced today that the Joseph J. Mottes Company and the Becker Construction Company have voluntarily agreed to stop selling material or product containing aggregate from Becker's Quarry in Willington for use in residential concrete foundations in Connecticut until June 2017. The state investigation into deteriorating foundations in eastern Connecticut continues.

• Media Advisory: Tuesday: Attorney General Joins Picket Lines

  On Tuesday, July 17, the Attorney General will show his support for striking health care workers at picket lines in Danbury, Stamford, Westport and Milford. Caregivers at five HealthBridge nursing homes in Connecticut began strikes on July 3 over unfair labor practices after the company ended negotiations and implemented what it claimed was its “last, best and final” offer.

• Attorney General Jepsen Testifies in Support of Hospital Facility Fee Legislation

  Attorney General George Jepsen today testified in support of legislation he authored seeking greater disclosure to patients of hospital facility fees. Over the last several months, he testified, nearly 70 complaints have been filed with his office from Connecticut patients who were surprised to learn that the medical services they received at a physician’s office had triggered a hospital facility fee.

• State Joins $125 Million Multistate Antitrust Settlement with Cephalon For Efforts to Delay Provigil Competition

  Attorney General George Jepsen announced today that Connecticut has joined 48 other states and the District of Columbia in a $125 million settlement with biopharmaceutical company Cephalon and its affiliated companies, including Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and Barr Laboratories. The settlement resolves allegations of anticompetitive conduct by Cephalon concerning its drug, Provigil.
