Connecticut Wine v. Kentucky Ham
Over NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship
Attorney General George Jepsen was happy to accept a friendly wager from Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway over the outcome of tonight’s NCAA Women’s National Championship game between the University of Connecticut Huskies and the University of Louisville Cardinals.
After all, when Conway made a similar offer two years ago over the Final Four matchup between the UConn men and the University of Kentucky Wildcats, Jepsen found himself the lucky winner of a Kentucky ham.
Conway put the same stake on the table this year and Jepsen countered with Connecticut wine, hoping to make the outcome in New Orleans a little easier for his Kentucky counterpart to swallow.
“There’s no question that the Cardinals are flying high after taking the men’s national championship against Michigan last night. But the Louisville women are going to need more than wings and prayers to stop Breanna Stewart and keep the UConn Huskies from winning their eighth national title,” Jepsen said.
Conway believes momentum favors Kentucky. “The University of Louisville Cardinals are on a roll after winning the men’s NCAA National Championship, and I fully expect our Lady Cards to pull off the exacta and bring the women’s national title home to Kentucky,” he said.
