STATEWIDE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS EXERCISE TO BEGIN JULY 28
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a four-day statewide emergency preparedness drill designed to simulate a Category 3 hurricane will begin on July 28th and run through July 31st. Coordinated by the state's Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), the exercise is designed to improve communication between the state's utility companies and state and local governments in the event of an emergency or other natural disaster.

On Tuesday morning, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman will tour the Hockanum Mill development. With state and federal investment and a partnership with the Town of Vernon, the project will remediate a brownfield and restore 10 existing structures to create 150,000 square feet of commercial and industrial space in Vernon.

Connecticut Veterans Parade Recognized by Veterans Day National Committee
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Linda S. Schwartz, announced today that the Connecticut Veterans Parade, held annually in Hartford, has been recognized by the Veterans Day National Committee as one of the nation's "Veterans Day Regional Sites". This is the third year that the Veterans Parade has been recognized by the National Committee.
