Teacher of the Year Ceremony

Due to inclement weather, the Teacher of the Year Ceremony has been postponed to December 16, 2025 from 5-7pm. Doors will open at 4pm. The Ceremony will take place at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, and the order of events will remain the same.

Certification Requirements for School Social Workers (#071)

We’re happy you’d like to support the mental health and well-being of Connecticut students. Here are the requirements for certification:

  • Master's degree in social work from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • A course of study in special education comprising at least 36 clock hours that includes study in:
    • Understanding the growth and development of exceptional children, including handicapped and gifted and talented children and children who may require special education
    • Methods for identifying, planning for, and working effectively with special-needs children in the regular classroom
