Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program
Welcome to the Connecticut Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Program!
What is the Connecticut Teacher Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program (T-RAP)?
The Connecticut Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Program (T-RAP), established under Conn. Gen. Stat. Sec. 10-146j(a), provides aspiring educators with paid classroom teaching experience while working toward full Connecticut certification.
In partnership with the Connecticut Department of Labor (DOL), the Connecticut Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Program was approved and launched in the 2024-2025 school year and continues to expand each year. The CSDE is actively recruiting additional districts to participate in the program.
The T-RAP is an important component of CSDE's 6–16 Educator Pathway, which seeks to build a stronger pipeline of future educators by introducing students to careers in education and supporting their progression from early exposure through educator preparation and entry into the profession.

Licensure/Certification Entity
Licensure provides the professional and public assurance that educators have met state teaching standards and have demonstrated their readiness to teach and improve student learning. This is integral in all educator apprenticeships.
Apprenticeship Office
Apprenticeship offices run by DOL OA at the national level and the SAA at the state level assist sponsors with developing and registering all aspects of the apprenticeship standards. Additionally, they help monitor the program for compliance, connect sponsors with supplemental education providers, and provide information to partners on available funding sources to support apprenticeships.
