- The Connecticut Alternate Assessment of English Language Proficiency (CAAELP) - The CAAELP is for students who are dually identified as an EL/ML and special education with a significant cognitive disability. This assessment is one of three within the Connecticut Alternate Assessment System.

DRC INSIGHT Portal - This portal is available to registered individuals with a username and password. The English Learner Assessment Coordinator (ELAC) assigns permissions for various secure functions. The LAS Links Test Administration is one of the applications within this portal. Other applications in the INSIGHT Portal include Test Management, Student Groups, Student Management, User Management, General Information, Interactive Reporting, On-Demand Reports, and Testing Status.

LAS Links Reader Accommodation Resources
- The resources below were created to support Planning and Placement Team (PPT) decisions for students in Grades K-12 with a disability, who are also identified as an EL/ML. These students may be eligible for reader accommodations on the LAS Links, Connecticut’s English language proficiency assessment, using either text-to-speech or a human reader, if appropriate. Additionally, the PPT should complete the Decision Guidelines for Text-to-Speech of the Smarter Balanced ELA Reading Passages or the Documented Evidence for Read Aloud of the Smarter Balanced ELA Reading Passages for dually identified ELs/MLs in Grades 3-8 participating in the Smarter Balanced English Language Arts Assessments.

- EL/ML Growth Model Presentation (PDF) - This presentation contains examples of how to interpret the student growth target tables. It provides districts with a clear understanding of the model used when analyzing the growth of English learners/multilingual learners and their progression toward their individual targets and proficiency.
#1 Introduction to Using EdSight to Support Students who are EL/ML
This video provides brief descriptions of Connecticut’s EL/ML student population and EdSight, the CSDE’s student data reporting portal. It identifies four key areas in which EdSight can help districts support their EL/ML students:
- Rostering and tracking EL/ML students;
- Obtaining the EL/ML status of students including those who are newly registered with the district;
- Accessing and assessing district EL/ML student assessment outcomes; and
- Programmatic planning for district EL/ML students.
#2 Student Summary Report in EdSight Secure
This recording demonstrates how the Student Summary Report can be used to:
- Generate district and school level rosters of EL/ML students;
- Access EL/ML students’ LAS Links results, their results from other standardized assessments, along with the list of any language support services they received (e.g., ESL, bilingual education); and
- Obtain the EL/ML status of students including those who are newly registered with the district.
#3 LAS Links Growth Report in EdSight Secure
This recording is the third in our series on using EdSight and includes a description of the CSDE’s Growth Model for LAS Links, the English language proficiency assessment. The presentation explains the development of the Growth Model and the individual student growth targets and details how the LAS Links growth results are incorporated in the CSDE’s Next Generation Accountability System. This video includes a live demonstration on how to:
- Obtain district, school, and individual student level LAS Links Oral and Literacy growth results and how to download this information and generate graphs that can also be downloaded; and
- How to identify areas of strength and weakness that may be useful for programmatic planning.
#4 LAS Links Achievement/Mastery Report in EdSight Secure
This recording is the fourth in our series on using EdSight to support EL/ML students. This video demonstrates how to obtain district, school, and individual student-level LAS Links Domain (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) and Composite (Overall, Oral, Literacy, Productive, and Comprehension) Performance Level and Scale Score results as well as information on students meeting the English Mastery Standard. Directions are provided on how to download this information and generate graphs that can also be downloaded. Lastly, information on how to identify areas of strength and weakness that may be useful for programmatic planning and on how to obtain the EL/ML status of students including those newly registered with the district is presented.
#5 English Learner (EL) Status Report in EdSight Secure
This is recording demonstrates how the Student Summary Report can be used to:
- Generate district and school level rosters of EL/ML students;
- Obtain the EL/ML status of students including those who are newly registered with the district; and
- Access the list of district students who met the CSDE’s English Mastery Standard and exited EL/ML status in the prior school year.
This is the sixth video in a series on using EdSight to support students who are EL/ML. This recording demonstrates how to use the aggregate state and district-level reports available in Public EdSight to access information about EL/ML students, including:
- LAS Links reports (Achievement, Growth, Participation/Mastery and LAS Growth Trajectory Tool);
- Standardized ELA, Math and Science assessments and Next Generation Accountability metrics;
- Graduation Rates; and
- Student access to various instruction.
