Student Achievement Module (SAM)

General Information
SAM, the Student Achievement Module (housed within TCS), was introduced during the 2021-22 school year. The module is used to collect various credentials earned by students. From 2021-22 to 2024-25 it was used only for Seal of Biliteracy reporting. In the current 2025-26 school year it has expanded to Industry Recognized Credentials (IRCs).

Documentation
  • SAM Overview   A high-level explanation of what SAM is, and what data is collected.
  • Record Layout  A list of fields collected, definitions, and coding requirements.
    • Change Log  This document outlines any updates made to the record layout during the collection year. All changes will be minor, to better clarify the collection, and will not effect the layout itself.
  • User Guide  This document contains step-by step instructions on navigating the SAM application and includes screenshots.
  • Data Entry Spreadsheet   a user-friendly interface to input SAM records. This spreadsheet then converts the data into the applicable codes and allows for a quick conversion to a comma separated file.
  • Basic Template  A blank CSV file to input data. Be sure all codes and formatting rules are followed.
  • Certification  How and where to certify your collection. All LEA's must certify regardless of if you have records to report.
