Adult Education Endorsements
The following endorsements are classified as adult education:
- English to Non-English Speaking Adults (#088)
- High School Credit Diploma Program (#106)
- External Diploma Program and Noncredit Mandated Programs (#107)
English to Non-English Speaking Adults
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Three semester hours of credit in methods of teaching English to speakers of other languages; and
- A course of study in special education comprised of not fewer than 36 clock hours, which shall include study in understanding the growth and development of exceptional children, including handicapped and gifted and talented children and children who may require special education, and methods for identifying, planning for and working effectively with special-needs children in the regular classroom.
High School Credit Diploma Program
- Must hold or be eligible for the secondary academic or special subject endorsement appropriate for the subject area to be taught in the adult High School Credit Diploma Program; and
- A course of study in special education comprised of not fewer than 36 clock hours, which shall include study in understanding the growth and development of exceptional children, including handicapped and gifted and talented children and children who may require special education, and methods for identifying, planning for and working effectively with special-needs children in the regular classroom.
External Diploma Program and Noncredit Mandated Programs
[Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development Program (GED) and National External Diploma Program (NEDP)]
- Bachelor’s degree; and
