CAE - Grid Modernization

Summary

As an approach
to creating an equitable modern electric grid, the Authority has tasked the Clean and Affordable Energy (CAE) unit with creating a framework that will help address energy affordability for our customers and underserved communities, improve customer resilience, support a green economy, and move the needle towards a decarbonized future.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Program: To support the deployment of EVs in Connecticut in-line with the State’s commitment to the Zero Emissions Vehicle MOU and our economy-wide greenhouse gas reduction targets, PURA established a nine-year, statewide EV Charging Program part of Docket No. 17-12-03RE04, which was formalized in Docket No. 21-08-06. The key aspects of the program include upfront incentives for home level 2 chargers, as well as a managed charging program for residential customers. For public chargers, the program includes upfront incentives for both the charging infrastructure (EVSE) and any “Make-Ready” electrical work required on the distribution grid to support the EVSE.
