Outpatient surgical procedures are performed across Connecticut in different clinical settings. The Office of Health Strategy outpatient surgical facilities and hospital outpatient surgical departments to report patient identifiable encounter data for all procedures performed. Healthcare providers file demographic, clinical and financial data twice each year, by January 2 and July 1.

OHS utilizes the data to:

  • Assess the availability and utilization of health care services
  • Evaluate unmet needs and gaps in services
  • Develop and maintain statewide health care facilities and services plan
  • Make decisions in certificate of need
  • Plan for public health and
  • Provide access to the data to qualified entities and individuals
