How do I apply to open a private career school?

Connecticut’s Office of Higher Education (OHE) has to approve all private career schools, also called POSA. POSA is short for Postsecondary Private Occupational Schools.

Can I operate a school while my application is pending?

No. Applying shows your intention to seek authorization. But you must meet the conditions for authorization and pass our review before you run or promote your school.

Can I submit a partial new school application and submit the remaining documents at a later date?

No. Submit a fully complete form. In addition to the application, you also send in a financial forecast and irrevocable letter of credit.
