Do private career schools need permission to operate in CT?

Private career schools in Connecticut need official permission from CT’s Office of Higher Education (OHE) to operate. This includes the following types of schools:

  • Hospital-based schools.
  • Cosmetology, barber, and hairdresser schools.
  • Commercial Driver’s License schools.
  • Allied health schools (CNA, phlebotomy, medical assistant, etc.).
  • Esthetician, nail tech and eyelash tech schools.
