How do I close a school or a branch in Connecticut?

Follow these steps to close a school or school branch in Connecticut:

  1. Step 1

    • Start a school closure application in the Veoci system.
  2. Step 2

    • Make sure all students have finished or will finish their courses. If any students have not finished, give CT OHE their contact details and the expected course completion date.

This can make it easier for students to transfer to another school to complete their program.

  3. Step 3

Verify there are no refunds due to any students.

  4. Step 4

Notify CT OHE if you will keep the school's records (per Section 10a-22k-5(f) of the Regulations of State Agencies) or if you plan to file them with CT OHE’s Commissioner. This is part of the school closure application in Veoci.

    Keep these student records:

    • Admission and cumulative records, including names and permanent addresses of each student. Also, results of any achievement tests, academic grades, and attendance.
    • The date the student began instruction at the school.
    • A copy of the individual enrollment agreement for each student.
    • Information about each program in which the student is or was enrolled. This includes the program's name, its length in hours, and the tuition paid each quarter.
    • Date of last instruction.
  5. Step 5

After all these steps are done, if necessary, the letter of credit will be sent back to the bank of origin to be canceled.
