When can I enroll in Medicare?

Your first chance to sign up is during your Initial Enrollment Period. It begins 3 months before you turn 65 and ends three months after you turn 65.

If you don’t sign up during your Initial Enrollment Period, you may have to wait to sign up and pay a monthly late enrollment penalty for as long as you have Part B coverage. The longer you wait, the higher the penalty becomes for you. There may also be a late penalty if you pay a premium for Part A.
