Why doesn’t my employer’s health plan follow CT state law?

Some employers provide self-insured health coverage. With these plans, employers pay the cost of all claims. A federal law called ERISA (The Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) covers self-insured health plans. ERISA sets standards for them and ensures they are fair for everyone.
