Biography

Governor Malloy is the youngest of eight children. He was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut.  As a child, he struggled to overcome learning and physical disabilities, eventually gaining the skills he needed to go on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Boston College and earn his law degree from Boston College Law School. 

After graduation, he became a prosecutor in Brooklyn, New York, serving for four years as an Assistant Attorney and winning 22 convictions in 23 felony cases. He then returned to Stamford and was a partner in a law firm there from 1984 to 1995. He served on the Stamford Board of Finance from 1983 to 1994.

In 1982, he married his wife, Cathy, whom he met while they were students at Boston College.  They have three sons, Dannel, Ben, and Sam.

He has received honorary degrees from several higher education institutions, including the University of New Haven, the University of Saint Joseph, the University of Bridgeport, and Nichols College.
