Connecticut Military Relief Fund
The Military Relief Fund provides monetary grants to service members and their families that are experiencing financial hardship as a result of (1) military service or (2) a serious injury or illness or the death of such eligible member or immediate family member.
The amount of the grant award is dependent on the unique circumstances of each case but not to exceed $5000.00.
Eligibility
1. Must be a currently serving member of any branch or component of the Armed Forces of the United States or an immediate family member of such service member.
2. Must be a current resident of the State of Connecticut. For members on active duty, living outside of Connecticut but claiming Connecticut as your state of legal residence – DD Form 2058 is required.
3. The service members military service must have caused or significantly contributed to the current financial hardship.Financial hardship in which the military is not a contributing factor do not qualify for a grant from this program except as listed below.
4. The service member or immediate family member suffers a serious injury or illness, or the death, of such eligible member or immediate family member.
DOCUMENTATION (examples):
- Proof of current military status. (ID Card, Military Orders)
- Proof of relationship for qualifying immediate family members. (Marriage License, Birth Certificate)
- Proof of Connecticut residency.(Driver’s license, lease, DD Form 2058)
- Income verification for all household members. (LES, paystubs).
- Asset verification for all household members. (Bank statements)
- Recent expenditure activity. (3 months of bank statements of online printout).
- Monthly expenses. (rent, mortgage, utilities, insurance, car loans)
- Documentation that substantiates connection to military service.
- Medical notes or bills.
An interview will be set up to discuss what information may be needed.

- Your application will be reviewed within one business day and an interview will be setup to discuss your application in further detail.The interview will be conducted at the location of your choice to facilitate confidential and open discussion.
- Once the application is complete and all substantiating documentation received, your application will be presented to the Military Relief Fund Committee for a decision.The committee may:
- Approve the request and determine a grant amount.
- Deny the request
- Table the request and request additional information from the applicant.
- If approved, a check will be mailed to the applicants mailing address along with an award letter and additional information to mitigate future hardships.
