The state officials said that the abandonment of a baby in downtown Danbury this week reflects the need to grow greater public awareness of this law in order to prevent tragedy.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and State Department of Education (SDE) Commissioner Dianna R. Wentzell today announced that the six-year high school graduation rate increased over four consecutive years, reaching an all-time high of 90.5 percent for the 2013-14 cohort. The release of the data comes on the heels of the announcement last month that the state reached an all-time high four-year graduation rate in 2016 of 87.4 percent – significantly higher than the national average of 83.2 percent.
