Energy CAP

EnergyCAP is a third-party contractor and software that the State of Connecticut uses to monitor energy usage and sustainability goals in State buildings. EnergyCAP offers useful features that assist in tracking, processing, reporting, benchmarking and analyzing utility data. These features can be used by your agency to track your facility’s energy spending, energy usage, compare building profiles, and track sustainability efforts.

Agencies are required to upload all of their energy, waste, and water bills, including those for electricity, natural gas, waste, water, sewage, and oil, to facilitate the tracking of both, current and historical usage. However, invoices from Eversource, United Illuminating, Southern Connecticut Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas are uploaded directly by these utilities to EnergyCAP; therefore agencies are not required to upload these specific bills.

Agencies are also required to ensure all their utility data is accurate. This involves ensuring building and location data is correct and resolving bills flagged by EnergyCAP.   This is crucial to tracking agency progress toward meeting the sustainability goals established in Executive Order 1 and Executive Order 21-3
