Middletown State Veterans Cemetery supports three types of burials: full casket burials, buried cremains, and columbarium inurnment.

  • Full casket burials: All full casket burials are conducted into pre-placed, double depth, concrete crypts. There is no need for the next of kin to purchase a burial vault.
  • Buried Cremains: All buried cremains (contained within an urn) are conducted without a crypt.
  • Columbarium Inurnment: Cremated remains (contained within an urn) are placed into a niche in one of 25 columbaria walls.

Please note: All subsequent burial types must be consistent with the initial burial. For example, if the initial burial is a columbarium inurnment, any subsequent burial must also be a columbarium inurnment. So, if the 1st burial is:

  • Full casket burial: Subsequent burials can be full casket burials or buried cremains.
  • Buried cremains: Subsequent burials can only be buried cremains.
  • Columbarium: Subsequent burials can only be in the columbarium.
