Free Bus Pass for Veterans

Read time: 6 minutes

Introduction:

Connecticut Veterans Affairs provides bus passes to Veterans at no cost to the Veteran. Veterans apply online for the pass.

Important information.

  • Bus passes are specific to the transit district(s) the Veteran is using.
  • Bus passes are valid for 31 days from the date of first use. A new bus pass should be requested approximately 10 days prior to the expiration of the old pass.
  • Veterans request a bus pass online. The initial online application requires the Veteran to provide a copy of their Connecticut driver’s license or non-driving identification card (with the Veteran indicator flag) to verify eligibility.
  • Bus passes are not transferable. The Veteran must show his/her Connecticut driver’s license or non-driving identification card (with the Veteran indicator flag) when using the pass.

How to Request a Bus Pass

  • Access the application Veteran Request for Bus Pass: DVA Forms and follow the instructions.
  • You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your request is received and approved.
  • This confirmation e-mail will contain your unique Veteran Pass ID. Hold onto this code, which can be used each month to avoid uploading your identification card when requesting a new pass.
  • Your bus pass will be mailed to the address provided.
