Introduction:
Connecticut Veterans Affairs provides bus passes to Veterans at no cost to the Veteran. Veterans apply online at Veteran Request for Bus Pass: DVA Forms for the passes. Please review the Veterans Bus Pass Frequently Asked Question (FAQ).
Important information.
- Bus passes are specific to the transit district(s) the Veteran is using.
- Veterans request bus passes online. The initial online application requires the Veteran to provide a copy of their U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC), Connecticut DMV driver’s license with Veteran indicator (flag) or Connecticut non‑driver ID with Veteran indicator (flag) to verify eligibility.
- Bus passes are not transferable. The Veteran must show U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC), Connecticut DMV driver’s license with Veteran indicator (flag) or Connecticut non‑driver ID with Veteran indicator (flag) when using the pass.
How to Request a Bus Pass
- Access the application Veteran Request for Bus Pass: DVA Forms and follow the instructions.
- You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your request is received and approved.
- This confirmation e-mail will contain your unique Veteran Pass ID. Hold onto this code, which can be used each month to avoid uploading your identification card when requesting a new pass.
- Your bus pass will be mailed to the address provided.
