CSFP
If you are at least 60 years of age, and live in Connecticut, CSFP may be able to help you with a monthly food package. CSFP is a federal program designed to help low-income seniors access healthy food from the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
How does CSFP work?
We partner with CT Foodshare to deliver these food boxes to CSFP sites. You must apply for CSFP. If you qualify for CSFP, you can pick up one food package a month at a participating location. You can also approve someone else to pick up the package for you.
The monthly food package contains a variety of healthy, shelf stable foods. They include important nutrients such as protein, calcium, iron, vitamins A, C, D, and fiber. The foods in each box contain reduced amounts of sodium, saturated fats and added sugars.
Each food package is valued at approximately $50 and includes foods such as:
- canned fruits and vegetables
- canned meat, poultry, or fish
- cheese
- dry beans
- farina
- juice
- milk
- oats
- ready-to-eat cereal
- rice
- pasta
- peanut butter
